Steve was born and raised in the Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee where his father instilled a love for the outdoors at an early age; having him on the water or in the tree stand depending on the season. Steve also had a passion for sports growing up; playing baseball and football throughout school.

Steve has been guiding on both rivers and lakes. Steve began guiding at Pyramid Lake with Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing and has been braving the weather the Lake brings, picking the best beach for a day of fishing, pushing his clients to become better anglers, and handing out the high-fives for each landed fish ever since.

Steve started his career as a fly fishing guide in Lake Tahoe, California at Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters. He started in the shop, moved to guide, and eventually became TFFO’s Head Guide. Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters offers a world-class guide school which Steve instructed as the Lead Guide School Instructor. Steve made a career move to Montana where he has spent the spring and summer seasons guiding on the Missouri River in Craig, Montana.

When a break clears on the calendar, you can find Steve fishing with his friends or spending time with his family and bulldog pups. His lady can vouch - it’s hard to get him off the water!
